Setting Max Units for Supervisors/Leads for Leveling

I want to try an experiment with Max units on our supervisors and leads and
I would like to know the thoughts of the experts...

In our CAD, Survey and Admin departments, we have a single person that
assigns tasks from the server. Rather than selecting or building a team from
each of these departments, our executives want all tasks assignments from the
server to go to the supervisors of these areas for re-assignment to whomever
is available.

My experiment entails adjusting the Max Units of the three point persons in
each of these areas to a level that equals the max units of those in their
departments. I will use the current settings for CAD department as an
example:

Name Max Units
Bob 95%
Tim 95%
Wendy 95%
Carl 95%
Supervisor 60%

By changing the supervisor's max units to 440% and changing the resource
assignments to go to the supervisor only, shouldn't this return a fairly
accurate picture when using the level resources tool?

Hi Greg,
It will return an accurate picture in the 1st instance. The next question
is what happens once the supervisor decides if bob, tim, wendy, carl or the
supervisor performs the assignment. Do they reassign the task, or does the
supervisor fill in the status for each assignee. If everything remains with
the supervisor, then I think everything will be okay, if they reassign the
task, then you'll have issues (as the supervisor becomes free but actually
Bob has the work, therefore his 440% is no longer accurate.

Another methold might be to use Team Resources, thought the availability
does not show for the team, but it depends on exactly what you are trying to
achieve.

As usual with project, its all in the configuration and business process.
