Setting Single Timesheet Approval Process PS2007

By Default the approval process on approval by first approver is set to
acceptable.

Can we by default set the approval process to it get directly approved by
first approver and does not have to go to second approver?

If you set the resource's timesheet approver to anyone other than blank or
to themselves, then the approval will always go to the resource set in that
timesheet approver field. It will continue up the chain of timesheet
approvers until if finds an approver who's timesheet approver is themselves
or blank.

There is no way to change this behaviour out of the box. But, if all
timesheet approvers are set to themselves then there will only be one level
of approvals required.

The resource manager needs to approve the timesheet, however we do not want
the resource manager's manager to approve anything.

If I set the timesheet manager of the resource to blank or themself, How
will the resource manager approve the resource's timesheet?

The only way I can see this working for you is to set all resources's
"Timesheet Manager" value to the correct resource manager so they get the
approvals. However, anyone, that is a resource manager would need their own
"Timesheet Manager" value set to blank or self.

This will work assuming you only have one level of managers that you care
about time approval. What this means is that all your resource managers
will have their own timesheets auto approved.
