setting table size

I have a table in a doc that shouldn't change size. Lots of people edit
copies of the doc. They change the size by adding too much text in the
table. Is there a way I can specifiy the table size so when they type too
much text into it they get an error message or their text runs out of view
or something?
Thanks

There isn't an option that would prevent theperson entering text from
entering a lot of text and making the table resize to fit it. Maybe I'm not
explaining it right.

Imagine a table that has 10 rows and is 4 inches tall on a printed page. I
want the users to be able to add text as long as thetable is not allowed to
be more than 4 inches tall on a printed page. Some of the users keep adding
text until the table takes up nearly a full page. The font size can't
change. Less than 4 inches is OK, more is bad.
Thanks

You could put the table in a text box or frame with 4" height (with auto
resizing of the text box turned off). On balance, a frame would be
preferable (set height to Exactly 4").

Hi Sherry,

true, but you can give the table cell a fixed height: The user can still
enter as much text as (s)he likes, but the cell won't grow and hence the
"mean" lines just don't show up ...

....and I really think .longdocs is not really appropriate here :)

This would be great except the number of rows in the table may vary. The
last row in the table is for a picture that varies in sze. This wasa great
idea, though. Sorry - I wasn't clear enough in describing my problem. I'm
still trying to think of a way to make it work.
