Setting text language and counting words

O

(Using Excel 2002 under Office XP and WinXP)

Two questions.

1. When I'm working on a bilingual spreadsheet, some cells have text in one
language and others have text in the other language. Turkish language
support is available through the Control Panel and I switch between the
languages (Turkish and English) by pressing Left-Alt+Left Shift. When I do
this in Word, the texts are tagged automatically so that when they are
spell-checked, Word knows which dictionaries (English or Turkish) to use.
The full set of Turkish dictionary and thesaurus files are installed on my
machine. This language toggling doesn't seem to work in Excel however. When
I spell-check, Excel applies the English dictionaries to all the text, not
just the text entered with the English keyboard. Am I missing something? Is
it possible to mark text cells as being a particular language? Or is Excel
incapable of doing this?

2. How do you count the number of (text) words in Excel?

TIA
