Setting the frequency of e-mail notifications

We will be using ProjectServer to track a district wide project with many
users that have long term tasks (for example: start 1/1/06 - finish
12/31//06). Rather than send e-mail notifications every day to our users,
with these long duration tasks, we would like to limit it to sending out an
e-mail notification once a week or once every two weeks, so that we don't
overload them with e-mail notifcations. Is there any way to do this, and can
it be done gloabally?

Fred -

What kind of notifications are you expecting. The daily reminders are
send regarding upcoming or overdue tasks and status reports. If they
don't have them, they should not get a reminder. There is no default
way to set a periodicity for these messages, only the time of day.

I find that many users write Outlook rules to automatically file
Project Server messages (Dale Howard calls it "Project Server Spam").
Also, your users and PMs can control this by setting Alerts and
Reminders from the PWA home page and the Task page (it's the same
feature, just two ways to get to it). Make sure they don't have things
configured that would be triggering daily reminders.

I'm a newbie to Project Server, but it looks like the individual users can
log in to PWA, go to the left side of the screen and select "Alert me about
my tasks and status reports and configure e-mail alerts."

Once they are in the configuration page, there are any number of options the
individual user can configure.

I do not see anything server side except for the "Customize Project Web
Access" and then "Notifications and Reminders" section that only allows you
to choose a time of day to set e-mail alerts.

If you have a developer they might be able to help you change PWA using this

In PWA on the Home page click on "Alert me about my resources on tasks
and status reports". Here you will be able to set the frequency you
desire for each type of reminder message, your resources will not be
able to turn this off. If there is someone who can see every resouce
in your pool, they should be the person to set this to implement it
globally.

Thank you all for your responses. It does not appear that there is an easy
way to set the frequency of e-mail notifications. One suggestion our sys.
admin. made was to turn off the notification service for the period we don't
want messages sent then turn it back on when we want a message sent. any
comments?
