setting to instantly find a email address by typing partial name

Pedro 420

Im recently reinstalled outlook 2003. Previously I was able to type a partial
name from my address book (ie 'court' for 'courtney') and the name/address
instantly appeared in the 'To:' field. Since reinstalling i now get a drop
down menu of possible names for 'court'. Does anyone know what the setting is
i need to check to get the shortcut name typing feature back?

thanks!

You are mistaken. Typing in the To: field invokes autocompletion, which has
no connection to your Contacts (or what you refer to as "address book"). It
uses a cache of names from messages you have previously sent. After a
reinstall, that cache is now empty.
Tabbing out of the To: field or sending the message will invoke
autoresolution, which does search your Contacts for matches for the name you
typed.
