Setting up a Shared Notebook (I have tried everything).

Ok.

I have Microsoft OneNote 2007. I know how to do pretty much everything
except Share a Notebook. I have read every tutorial, including the help
files, but they really don't make it clear for you. I want to be able to
share this notebook with a guy who lives in a different state than me. And I
don't need to live share at this time, just plain ol' Notebook sharing.

I have a website, Masspikevb.com, which I was trying to get it running on.

I used the wizard, named the notebook, told the program to share on multiple
computers, on a server. That is where it got tricky for me. The first time I
tried to do it, I realized I would have to go and make a directory based on
what I was calling the notebook (or at least I thought so), and then I went
back to notebook, and did the same settings, pressed ok, and It seemed like
it was working. But when I exited out of OneNote and went to go check that
directory, no files were saved in there, so it isn't working. Just any help
to point me in the right direction would be awesome.

Yes they do, I just don't know what exact settings I should use on it.

Also, some of the stuff in the WebDAV support thing scare me, like I went to
my site, and went to go look if I could find WebDAV, and I did, and you can
set up a directory, but at the very end it says this

Warning: WebDAV-enabled directories will no longer be owned by you, and so
cannot be accessed via FTP or the shell...only through WebDAV!

So I don't know how exactly I can get this to work with Microsoft One Note.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a309/blazin_it_alwyz/OneNoteQuestion-1.png

I took a basic screenshot of the available settings, so if you could suggest
to me exactly what I should do, I will follow through on it, thank you by the
way for responding.

Looking at your screenshot, I can see that you are using Apache as
webserver. Let me warn you right away, you might not be able to get this

yeah I can tell right away I won't be able to do it. the first link you gave
me is dead, the 2nd required httpd config. I have my website through a
hoster, and it is shared, so I doubt I will be able to configure any files
like that.

I guess the only other option would be live sharing. Would that be a
sufficeable replacement? And I really do want to get this to work, do I have
any alternatives to using my own site? I know it says you need a sharepoint
site, and I am assuming we're talking about money to have one of those. Any
alternative you could suggest would be great, and thanks for all the help so
far.

You can probably edit the .htconfig files yourself. I didn't know the
first link was dead. Tried Google Cache for it?
You could set up a VPN and synch via that from time to time. That would
work. There is an Internet VPN solution people have used successfully
with OneNote, but I don't remember right now what it was called. Try
searching for VPN in this group.
Live sharing is not a great idea at all. SharePoint hosting costs money.
