Setting up a sub-web for password protection

I don't know why I continue to have a problem trying to set up a password
protected subweb.

I have set up a folder as a subweb (I called it "MySubWeb") -- I opened my
site in FP directly to the server. I clicked 'Toos" pointed to "Server" and
then clicked "Adminsitration Home" then I get an FP error message "A World
Wide Web browser such as Microsoft Internet Exployer is required to use this
feature." I use AOL for email, however,I believe I have set MS Explorer as my
default. What am I doing wrong?? The site is: www.FHPA-TroopF.org

Make sure that you're using IE Explorer as your web browser and not MSN
Explorer (which is something totally different). There's nothing wrong with
the site, the administration system for certain versions of the FrontPage
Server Extensions are web-enabled and must run in IE.

Hope this helps,

Can you tell me how I insure that?

Its is probably right there on your machine

Click Start and then look either in the start menu or programs to
find it

I am using Microsoft Internet Exployer, just as the error message says, but I
still get that error message. Any suggestions? I don't know what to do next!!!

Is IE set as your *default web browser or is MSN or AOL?

Now we are getting somewhere. I did have to change my default to IE and now I
have access. I did all the suggested changes to my sub-web and set up a new
user. Now, can you tell me how to set up my site to get to the sub-web? I'm
using FP 2003 the site is: www.FHPA-TroopF.org

OK, I have set up a new subweb called 'trooperonly' and established an
index.htm for it (http://www.fhpa-troopf.org/trooperonly/index.htm) -- on my
main web site I have a page "Troopers Only"
(http://www.fhpa-troopf.org/troopers_only.htm) where I put a link to the
subweb (above) but it does not ask for username and/or password it just goes
directly into the subweb. What am I doing wrong. When I set up the sub web I
established the administrator as "trooper" and the password as "fhpaf".

It asks me for a password. Maybe on your computer you checked: "remember
this password"?

Tom, thank you so much. We seem to be getting there with your help. Now, I
guess a dumb question.

I have created this new 'subweb' http://www.fhpa-troopf.org/trooperonly --
that will hold my 'private' infomation. How do I get it on my computer so I
can edit it without being on the server? When I look at fhpa-troop.org in FP
on my computer, I do not see the subweb. I assume that is because it is now a
seperate site? I did try to 'publish' the romote site back to my computer but
the subweb did not transfer.
