Setting up BCM on new server

I'm setting up BCM on our new sbs 2008 server, we were unable to migrate
before the old sbs 2003 server so as of now none of my users are connecting.

I have a local cack up of the database but when I use the database tool it
somehow is still looking for the old server. What is the procedure for
connecting to sbs 2008?

The Windows OS should not matter. The machine needs to have Sql Server
configured (Instance name, TCP port, permissions) for your version of
BCM and be open (firewall ports open, network protocols enabled) so
that the client machines can reach it. Microsoft.com used to have a
document with the details, but that got replaced with the BCM v3
Database Tool.

The easy way to get a BCM database on a machine is to install Outlook
and BCM on the machine, run Outlook, create a database with the 1st
use wizard, share it with all your users and open the BCM database to
the network with the sharing wizard. Add any existing data by
restoring a database backup or importing a BCM file. Then configure
the BCM clients to use the database on the new machine. Once
everything is done you can uninstall BCM and Outlook from the machine,
Sql and the database will keep running. The database owner should be
able to reconfigure the database (e.g. add or remove a user) from
their BCM client.

I did a clean install on a different admin account and re-ran the db tool and
everything works fine now. The Database tool is a great resource for sharing
the database and adding permissions. Not sure why the installation of the
tool was still looking for "my" installation path but by installing it as a
different user it worked fine.
