Setting up Enterprise Projects vs. Non- Enterprise

K

Ken Roofza

When I try to publish a project as an enterprise project
from project 2003. I get the following message:

"You are trying to publish a non-Enterprise Project to
Project Server.

The security setting on the server do not allow you to
publish non-enterprise projects."

How do I get around this problem?

Thanks!

The error message indicates that you are not logged into Project Server
through Microsoft Project Professional before you attempt to publish the
project. In addition, because you are not logged into Project Server, the
project you created is not an enterprise project because it is not saved in
the Project Server database. To log into Project Server, you must first do
the following setup procedure:

1. Open Microsoft Project
2. Click Tools - Enterprise Options - Microsoft Project Server Accounts
3. Click the Add button
4. Give your login an Account Name
5. Enter your company's Project Server URL
6. Click the Test button to confirm you have a valid working URL
7. Select the "Set as default account" option
8. Click OK
9. Select the "Manually control detection state" option
10. Click the OK button

Once you have completed the previous steps, you must close and relaunch
Microsoft Project. In the Project Server Accounts dialog, make sure your
user login is selected and click the Connect button. Once done, you should
now import your nonenterprise project into the Project Server database using
Tools - Enterprise Options - Import Project to Enterprise. Pay special
attention to the page where you must "synch up" the local resources in your
project with enterprise resources found in the Enterprise Resource Pool.
Hope this helps.

Thanks! I believe I do get connected and I was able to
publish once without importing the project. It made the
project as non-enterprise. The other problem I have is
that the imprtoing option is not selectable from my menu
options. Not sure why?
