Setting up Groups/Categories for targeted audiences

So i have a request to set up a Project Center view to show only a certain
subset of projects.
In this case,
- this is straigthforward
- Have a division = Aviation and have set up a filter to only show this

Now i have the added request to only let Aviation PMs see Aviation Projects
and no others

So i set up a new Group (Aviation PMs) and a new category (My Aviation
Projects) to handle
I put a resource in this new Group,
They can only see the one view as controlled within the category
The one view shows the Aviation Projects

My question: Do you have to then constantly, manually add new Aviation
projects to the Category screen OR is there an automated way or better way
to handle.

Seems like i'm going to have to constantly go into each category and add
which projects should be part of this for viewing purposes. Plus i'll
probably have 5 or more different Divisions to manage

Seems like we're going down an incorrect path and i would either like a
better way (any suggestions?) or know this is the way it is and we shouldn't
do because of the maintenance overhead.

thx.

Given your organization's restrictive security requirements for viewing
project, the Project Server administrator must manually add new aviation
projects to the My Aviation Projects category. Hope this helps.

It depends on how you set up your projects. You could potentially leverage
some of the dynamic rules available for project filtering in the category.
If you are using the RBS to define your divisions then you can possibly
leverage all 4 options below, but if you aren't using RBS, you could only
leverage options 1 and 2

In MSPS 2003 these rules are:
1) Allow users in this category to view all projects they manage
2) Allow users in this category to view all projects in which they are
a team member.
3) Allow users in this category to view all projects managed by
resources that they manage
4) Allow users in this category to view all projects assigned to
resources that they manage

Hope this helps,
