Setting up Microsoft exchange server through outlook

I recently added a DSL line and have wireless internet. When the installer
setup DSL he said that because there was no static line that my email setup
through outlook which was from a dial up company I have through work would
not work. The installer thought of an idea of using Microsoft Exchanger
Server to access the email account. He didn’t talk to his company or the
dial up company but had it working in about five minutes. Unfortunately I
deleted the server type and no one from Qwest or Infinity Internet has any
idea on how he did it.
Under the Microsoft exchange server the settings page asks for the name of
your Microsoft Exchange Server Computer. I don’t know what he put or what
else he did but does anyone have any suggestions.

Assuming you want to connect to your work email server, you'll need to ask your mail administrator at work.

the administrator at work is me. I just dont know what info I am supposed
to input to set up microsoft exchange server to talk to that other email and
none of the tech people at QWEST or Infinity Internet have any idea on how

It's still not clear to me from what you've posted so far whether you actually have an Exchange server at work. If you do, how Outlook can connect to it will depend in part on the version, but mainly on how you've exposed that server for outside access. It could be an Exchange 5.5 or Exchange 2000 server for which you've set up a virtual private network connection. Or it could be an Exchange 2003 server supporting RPC over HTTP connections.

You could always just try putting in the server's IP address.

If the question really is "how do I make my Exchange server available over the Internet," that's better asked in one of the microsoft.public.exchange.* groups, where you'd want to provide details on what version you're running.

Hi Mosher ,

What I analysed with the situation from scott is ' He is
having a pop account from a company and he wants that pop account to be
downloaded on his
Exchange server and then to his outlook 2003 Mapi clients which is
connected to the Exchange Server.
