Setting up multiple accounts

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: pop Hi guys,

Just switched over to the mac world and am now setting up my email.

I have 2 separate email address all hosted on the same mail server - mail.tpg.com.au

I added my default email address which works fine in Entourage but I continue to get the following error message with my second email account:

Mail could not be received at this time.

The server for "Cheekyage's" returned the error "(IN-USE) Unable to lock maildrop: Mailbox is locked by POP server." Your username/password security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?

I have double-checked all my passwords and settings and all is correct.

Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong or missing?

I had this working fine in Outlook Express but since switching over to Entourage it continues not to work :(

Also - How can I identify which emails are coming from the different addresses?
Can I some how displays the ACCOUNT name and colour code?

Appreciate any advice or assistance :)

Cheers

Is the second email a real email account or an alias account? More info on
alias accounts

Entourage it continues not to work :(

Select a message and under Message in the Menu bar, select Source. In the
source you can see which address received the message.
Can I some how displays the ACCOUNT name and colour code?

Create a Rule:

Account is (select account one)

Assign category (select a category for color not type, holidays are red for
example)

Another way is to set Entourage to 3 pane view, in the middle column, select
Account.

How to set in 3pane view:

Hi Diane,

Many thanks for your very informative reply.

The second email address that I am trying to setup is actually an alias account.

Do you know what the best procedure is to setupan alias account?

To add to my previous post, how do I create hyperlinks in a email?

In Outlook you simply type out or paste the URL or email address and usually by hitting the space bar afterwards it creates the hyperlink.

Any ideas?

The second email address that I am trying to setup is actually an alias
account.

The link I provided explained how to setup an alias account.

Tools>Accounts: enter your name, then the alias e-mail address. You can
leave the "Receiving mail" portion blank. In the "Sending mail" section,
enter smtp.mac.com, then click on the button that says "Click here for
advanced sending options". In that new pop-up window, activate "SMTP server
requires authentication", then select "Log on using" and enter your
*regular* e-mail address, followed by your password.
how do I create hyperlinks in a email?

You can¹t create a hyperlink where live underlined words in ordinary text
that open linked web pages. There is a script that will do this.

Info on URLs.
Same with smiley faces :)

There is no function for this. You have to type them in yourself. Entourage
does not have complex HTMl.

Thank you so very much Diane.

Your information was very informative.

I am still having an issue trying to identify my accounts.

For example:

My proper email address is (e-mail address removed)
My alias email address is (e-mail address removed)

When attempting to arrange these emails it still only gives me the 1 option being my primary email address of cheekyage@age, not my alias.

Do you know how I can arrange and identify the incoming/outgoing emails?

I thought it would provide the similar ability as to the same way you send mail from different accounts.

Then again, I could be following the incorrect procedures!

Any help would be great :)

An alias cannot be your default address. An alias address is never meant to
be used like this.

You need to explain what you are trying to accomplish. You can create a rule
to move messages.

See this page for an example:

Hi Diane,

I would like to identify which emails are being sent and received.

Outlook had a column on the far right hand side called "Account"

It then would list the relevant emails depending on the where the email was sent or received

Eg:

Account 1. Cheekyage Work
Alias 1 Cheekyage Home
Alias 2 Cheekyage Family

I would like to identify which emails are being sent and received.

By default your messages are all stored in the Sent folder.

Unless you create a rule to move messages, they will all go to the Inbox. I
gave you a link to set up a rule to move to a folder by account.
