Greetings,

I am working on setting up Project Server 2003. I have experience with MS
Project but not Server. I have Gary Chefetz's book which is a big help. I
still need clarification on a couple of points, at least for now. Our company
does not have Sharepoint Server. I understand that some functionality is only
available thru Sharepoint. In my reading I find "hints" that you need
Sharepoint for doing any kind of web capabilities for users within 2003
Project Server. Other references seem to indicate that Project Server has its
own web page capabilties via IIS Server. To be clear, to get users access to
Project Server where they can see, add or update project plan information via
Project Server thru a web page interface do you have to have Sharepoint? Is
it a matter of what web functions you can get with Sharepoint or are you
completely out of luck without it?

Thanks,

Hi Terry,

SharePoint gives you Issues, Risks and Documents as well as a customizable
SharePoint site for each Project.

SharePoint is not required to run the other functionality of Project Server
(tasks, timesheets, plans, portfolios, etc.)

Terry:

You should also know that Windows SharePoint Services is a free download for
all editions of Windows Server 2003. Unless you have some company
prohibition, or you're installing on Windows Server 2000, there's no reason
not to install with SharePoint.
