setting up toolbar button to accomplish repetitive task

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel How do you create a macro (I know, I know, macs don't do macros)-like function wherein you can select several process steps (e.g., click on format>font>strikethrough>OK) in one mouse click on a toolbar button?

Thanks.

It isn't that *Macs* don't do macros, it's that Office 2008 doesn't because
it has no support for VBA. The next release will have VBA support restored &
prior versions of Office have VBA support.

The interim alternative is Apple Script, but I don't believe there is a
recorder & IIRC scripts can't be assigned to buttons in apps.

However, for the type of "process" you describe there really is no need for
any kind of programmatic automation because that isn't a process -- it's
merely a command. There is a Strikethrough button in the Font group of the
Formatting Palette in the Toolbox & many other commands can be added to
toolbars &/or have keyboard shortcuts assigned to them as well. Check out
the topics pertaining to customizing toolbars in Word Help.

As a suggestion, if you study up on Styles to accomplish your formatting
rather than strictly relying on direct formatting you'll save a far greater
amount of time with a higher degree of consistency.

It works! Thanks very much for both suggestions. Wonderful timesaver(s).
