Setup and Updates fail - installation files corrupt. Office Ent 2007

Hello...

I am running Windows Vista Business with SP1, Office Enterprise 2007

Tried to install Office 2007 SP 1 yesterday.

At the "Running Update Detection" part which happens at the very begginning
of the update after you agree to the terms, it fails with the error message
"The detection failed, this can be due to a corrupted installation
database."

I tried to go to Control Panel and change Office 2007 installation. It
fails. I tried to install fresh from both of my DVD drives.

I tried to do the Office Repair, and there is nothing wrong with my product
EXCEPT that it cannot find the source files for my installation.

When attempting to install Office 2007 from scratch, it fails with the
following:

****************************
Description:
Setup did not complete successfully. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Problem Event Name: Office12Setup

Same problem happens whether I am in safe mode, and whether or not I try to
install from the DVD drives OR copying the files to my hard drive and
installing from there...

Is there a way to fix this problem so that update and install can find the
files they need?

Thank you for your assistance.

It returned an unsuccessful installation

Please give another suggestion......

To elaborate: set up for Office, for Visio, all fail...... Programs still
show in Control Panel - Cannot uninstall them either - says corrupt and must
run new install from DVD - fresh installs also fail...

Office 2007 Enterprise is only procurable through a company plan. You need to get in touch with the IT person at the company where you purchased the Enterprise Edition from. They are the ones that are able to help you since they hold the volume license for your Enterprise Edition.

Hi Peter, and all,

My Office Enterprise is part of my action pack subscription.

I just spent 35 minutes on the phone with someone just to find out that in
order to help me I would have to pay $249

After all these years buying Microsoft products an dnever asking for help,
the one time I do call I have to pay $249??

My only problem is that I cannot re-install Office Enterprise 2007. I
believe it is because of corrupt installation files somewhere, perhaps
registry entries....

Please help - I can no longer open Word, Outlook, etc..... I cannot work
without these programs!

Hi Anya,

The MS Partner's Action pack products are basically for demo/development (non production) [Not for Distribution]use and do not come
with MS technical support as such
http://partner.microsoft.com/40016472
as part of the subscription. However, as a Microsoft Partner (a requirement for the Action Pack subscription <g>) there are separate
MS managed & 'direct access' discussion groups available for partners via http://partner.microsoft.com for setup and 'break fix'
help that do not require a payment and you can register from the first link above.

As you're having problems with more than one of the apps it could be something in Vista (a setting/permissions) or a problem reading
from the DVD. You may want to try copying to the hard drive and installing from there if restarting the PC did not clear an issue
with the installation and you're installing as an Admin.

Hi. Thank you.... Yes I know what the Action Pack is for. However, this
Office Enterprise 2007 is the same product as you would buy off shelf... It
doesn't matter where I got it - I just need help with this problem - I am
sure other people are having the same problem. Installation files cannot be
found or have corrupted no matter if disk is in either DVD drive (I have 2).
I have also tried from hard drive.

Hi Carey,

I have done this - would just like to get help from the newsgroup.

Do you have any idea how to troubleshoot corrupt installation problems?

I would have to pay for support...
