Setup error installing Project 2007 Trial Version

C

ColoTeacher

I have downloaded the software from the link at Microsoft and have burned the
..img file to a CD.

However when I try to install the program from the CD, I get a setup error
that says a rquired file is either corrupted or not available. (I have
downloaded the file twice from the web site.)

What should I do?

Hello ColoTeacher,

There have been a number of posts in this newsgroup about Project 2007
trial versions. Below is some advice I gave to another poster about 2
weeks ago that seemed to have worked for him:
See the following:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/express/aa718401.aspx

Although it refers to "Express Editions" the information under
"Manually Installing an Express Edition on a local machine" give step
by step instructions on working with *.img files.

See also:

http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2058238&SiteID=1

for some references to other programs (other than Roxio and IsoBuster)
which will work with *.img files.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hello Julie,

Thank you so much for your quick response. I was able to follow the
instructions for "Manually Installing an Express Edition" and successfully
install MS Project.

However before doing that, I uninstalled ISOBUSTER and reinstalled it
following the suggestions listed. (I was not able to find the setting to
change to long file names but it worked anyway.)

I also deleted the .img file that I had previously downloaded from the
Microsoft web site and downloaded the software file again. I think part of
my problem was that the file I had previously downloaded was not complete.

Again, thank you so much for your help! You are a lifesaver!

I have the same problem. I downloaded the complete IMG file, but can not
expand or install it.
I downloaded number of software, but they expand this as if it was a picture.
This is extremely frustrating. Who in Microsoft decided to place an IMG file
for the trial version?
Going through this major headache will not motivate me or my company to buy
this product. I have tried e-mailing the Microsoft support, but they won't
respond t/ accept issues on trial versions.
