Setup Installation File runs everytime

I have installed Office 2007 on my brand new Vista Laptop. Office worked fine
but then it was auto updated by microsoft update by installing few files and
then to Office SP2. Now the issue is when I try to invoke the
Word/Excel/Powerpoint from the start Menu->programs, my laptop shows the
Setup Installation File initially showing gathering information and after few
seconds Word/Excel/Powerpoint opens. This even happens when I try to open
document directly from any directory or from website. But If i create
shortcut to say Word and invoke the shortcut then Word works fine.

I believe that the upgrade to Office SP2 has something to do with this
problem. Please help!
