normal data backups.

manually or by a batch job or by using the Microsoft-supplied Personal
Folders Backup utility. What type of account are you using?
I have simply relocated the .pst file to a folder under Documents (Vista) or
My Documents (XP), it is then backed up with my normally scheduled backup.
No extra backup necessary.

Use Microsoft's tool [1] to backup your pst-file in that all your
contacts, calendar, emails etc. are stored. You can configure the tool
to backup your pst-file when closing Outlook, e. g. every two days.
