several simple questions

Hi - I am a long time Win user who just happily switched to the Mac
and Entourage and if you would be so kind, here are some very beginner
questions. I know that Entourage and Outlok are not identical in
features.
1. I created and saved a signature. I select Messsgae-Signature and
select the one I want to use, but isn;t there a way to automatically
have it inserted as the default?
2. Speaking of defaults, is there no option to use a color with text
in creating Entourage messages?
3. As far as I can tel, there is no Autotext option in Entourage - nor
is there an insert menu. Is there a way to insert canned info into a
mail document?
4. When I finish a message and use the delete key to delete it, the
message above the deleted one instead of the next message is
highlighted. Can I change that?

Congratulations on moving to "right" side. Here are your answers:
1. Yes. Look in Tools-Accounts. Select the account and look in the options
section. You can specify a default signature here.
2. Yes, but your message must be in HTML, not plain text. Look in entourage
preferences, or you can change the message format. using the format menu.
3. Not really, But you could do this with signatures. Set up a signature but
don't use it as an account signature.
4.change the preference in Read to open the next message.

It probably does. I never tried it and don't usually use scripts for
Entourage, so I was unaware of it. Here it is if you want to try it:

Although E'rage doesn't have an AutoText feature it does have AutoCorrect,
so depending on what you intend to use it for it may serve as a viable
alternative. there is probably a limit (perhaps 255 characters) but it can
be much more than the typical typo correction suggests.
