Grab and drop the "Space" shape inside your office layout. Make sure that
the shape is completely within the office area -- shrink it if necessary.
Then, right click and select autosize. The space shape will fill-in your
office as desired.
The Visio help suggests an alternative technique. Go to menu bar > Tools >
Add-ons > Visio Extras > Shape Area and Perimeter. This will pop up a
reporting form. Select the shape in question and it will provide both area
and perimeter. I believe the shape has to be fully enclosed for this to work.
