shading format

Whenever I unclick the shading box for excel charts (by selecting the
color in the legend) and save it, close the document, close Excel and
come back to it later, all the formatting has gone back to the
original (shading). How do I get rid of the shaded bars in the charts
for good. I have spent hours removing them, only for them to return
the next time I open the document.

Can't reproduce this, here...

What version of MacXL are you using?

What "shading box" are you unclicking? What 'shading' are you referring
to (e.g., fill, shadow, gradient) ? Does it make any difference if you
select the series (by clicking on a bar in the series) and changing the
format?

Does this happen in all workbooks, or just this one?
