Shading Shortcuts

I have a table that I created with 500 individual cells
with text and each background has to be color coded. I
also have to update those colors every week to represent
different things. Right now I am highlighting the cell, rt
click, select boarders & shading, shading tab, selecting
color, clicking ok. Very very tedious to do 500 times
every week. I there anty way to make this simpler. We only
use 4 different colors, is there any way set up a hot key
I can just select the cell, hit the key and it changes the
background. Then I could just go along and do all the
green then the red etc. Please Help

Word has a really neat function?
"Find and Replace"

Edit/Replace
enter string desired to replace with string of replacement.
500 would take seconds.

Please note: The more separate F&R's you do in an open session causes Word
to slow down tremendously.
The best method is to do a solitary F&R, then save file. Close Word. Reopen
Word and do your next F&R.
Repeating this process until you get through your four colors.

First of all thanks for your help but...
I went into find and replace and I see where I can select
the text to find but under replace I cant see how to
select a new background color for that text

I love the F3 key! I tried it to make sure it would work.

Simply change one cell to the color you want. Then move
your cursor to the next box you want changed and press
the F3 button.

Voila! It changes instantly. (Just make sure that you
select "cell" rather than "table" in the borders/fill box
or your whole table will change.)

Hope this helps.

By the way, the F3 key is a great little tool. It will
repeat the last task you do and can be used like a "quick
macro" type of key.

Enjoy!

F3 inserts AutoText. F4 is the Repeat key.

Apparently it depends on the keyboard then because on my
keyboard F3 is the "Redo" button.
