Shadows under pictures-FP2002

M

Margaret

I'm not sure whether there is something wrong with my FrontPage 2002 or
whether finger trouble. I'm trying to place some pictures (.jpg files) on a
page and then create shadows under them to make them appear as if floating.
I've looked at the FP page and followed the instructions, but it is not
working as it should:

I select the picture (click on it). I should then be able to click on the
shadow icon in the drawing menu to get a list of possible shadows but the
icon is greyed out and nothing happens when I do click on it.

I fiddled with this a lot and a couple of times I actually did get the icon
to activate (though I have no idea how I did this - a lot of clicking went
into it...). When I clicked on one of the shadow styles that came up, again
nothing happened...

Is this a bug? Is there a fix or a work around for this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I need this feature to work pretty
soon. Working to a deadline.

Margaret.

The best option is to add the shadow to the image in a image application, if you want all users of
browsers other than IE to see it.

To fix the current issue, Tools | Page Options | Compatibility Settings set the dropdowns to Custom
and check all boxes.

Thomas,

that would be the option. Thank you for your reply. Just for interest, I
will try your other suggestion to see if I can make it work.

Margaret.

The shadow effects in the FrontPage toolbar can only be applied to "images"
created with the FrontPage/office drawing tools. They cannot be applied to
..jpg or .gif images.

Which image editing software do you have? Some make it quite easy to add the
drop shadow effect ... which, by the way, I use all the time.
