Shape Protection Question

I am truely a new user and have encountered the following problem,
There are many shapes on the drawing, and it is crowded. I have attempted
to make everything smaller, to allow fitting even more on the drawing but am
getting a message "Shape protection and/or Layer properties prevent complete
execution of this command". I believe Visio is telling me I already have
more on the drawing than should be there. I added another page a attempted
to create a hyperlink to the second page, containing some of the objects on
the original page.
I am have diffulty getting the link to work. I browsed to Local file and
then to the new page.
Any advise would be welcomed.

Certain shapes take their size from the shape's contents. However,
rather than resize the contents for the page, resize the page itself (
hold the control key and drag with the mouse). In the menu File ->
Page Setup -> Page Size there is a setting to fit to paper size.

Increasing the size did work out for me.
