ShapeKey Info

I am trying to link an excel database to a drawing using the ShapeKey. What
I have done is exported the visio drawing data to excel then added addtional
fields to it. Now I want to link the excel to visio using the Shapekey. The
problem is the ShapeKey does not exist in the visio drawing other than the
title of the shapesheet window.
Is there a way to get this info brought into a field that I can link to?

Thanks,

I have that. But, It's hard to link to something that not showing up. I
have a drawing that when I Export to Excel it creates a field called
ShapeKey. Which matches the ID of the object in the drawing. The object
does not have a field in Shape Data called ShapeKey Other than if you view
the ShapeSheet data the Top Title Line displays Master Disk. 1271<SHAPE>.
That number 1271 is the ID of the Shape and it matches the ShapeKey field
that was exported to Excel. No Where in the ShapeSheet is this 1271
referenced.

If I try and Link the Excel Database ShapeKey field bacl to the Visio
drawing nothing happens. No data gets linked no fields are created.

there are quite a few fields that visio uses that are not in the shapesheet
and are only available via programming. I believe the database wizard keeps
track of those for the user (at least in some of the
cases). How are you linking to the data?

If you have a custom property/shape data row, then the following formula in
the Value cell would do it:
=GUARD(ID())
