Has anyone been able to get ShapeStudio that was included in the Visio SDK
for 2007 working? My environment is Windows Vista, Visio 2007, and SQL Server
Express 2005.

The setup is not intuitive, and not going well. I keep getting a message
that I have to have Administrator privileges to setup a new System DSN, but I
have setup a System DSN. I have executed the script in SQL Express.

What I would be most grateful for is if someone can confirm that ShapeStudio
will run in my environment. Ideally, I would also like clear, step-by-step
instructions on how to set it up. As you can tell, I am just a little
frustrated!

I had a try, more as one year ago. I had to go back with the ?SQL driver?
because of a known problem. I haven't heard that it was cured.
Anyway, Microsoft has given up on Shapestudio and hopes a third party vendor
will come up with something like it.
So in the next Visio, no more Shapestudio.

Many thanks for the thoughts. Subject to confirmation from Microsoft
(anyone?), I am going to abandon Shapestudio. Seems a shame, since it looked
like it might be useful.

I have it from first source, ?Wolff? or another important person told it in
public at the last Visio conference. The "confirmation" is probably on the
mvp blog.
Indeed, a pity. Keeping shape data in a database looks a great idea.
