Share Calendar Email wont send

J

Jeff Cashman

I set up a shared calendar on office online with the publish feature in
outlook2007. I sent the initial invite during the setup and it worked fine.
Now I am trying to add additional users with the right-click Share Calender
and it creates the email fine. I add receipents and click send and get the
following error: error while preparing to send sharing message. server
returned an error.

It's driving me nuts

you may need to unshare it first - I'm not sure you can add more names
through outlook. you can go online and add them too.

Diane,

I have torn the site apart, where do I add more users on the site?

Thank you so much!

I swear I clicked on restricted link and was able to add another user - I
have a second person linked to it (I only add one of my addresses my test
calendars) so I did something that's for sure.

I can't repro your crash - because I can't get an new invite to open. It
gets to the point where it asks if I want to send invites and nothing
happens.

Same problem for me. Tried unsharing. Can't find online location to add.
Thought it may be related to my use of Outlook 2007 Trial Version, but from
this thread, appears not.

I was having this same issue, and found a solution.

1) Log into calendars.office.microsoft.com
2) Click on my office online
3) Under subscription services on the left, click outlook calendar sharing
4) Click on delete calendar profile (this only erases all shared calendars,
it doesnt do anyhting to your live ID)

5) after this you need to go into outlook, click tools, account settings,
published calendars and then change account, follow the instructions, next
next next and then finish
6) You can then click publish my calendar in outlook
7) I only get one shot at inviting people, so make sure you enter all email
addresses this first time

Hope this helps!

Okay, so this isn't a user-error after all. I've been pulling my hair out
trying to get this work.

Is the limitation of 1 invite per calendar share expected? Seems like
that's a bust since the client function is "Share Published Calendar..."

How do we confirm that this isn't a bug, or an issue with the service?

I vaguely recollect this working properly a few months ago. However, I tried
recently and it does not work anymore. Was it an illusion?

I really think it is a bug in some recent release of Outlook or some recent
change in the Office Online site. How can we get to the right person at MS to
answer this?

I 'resolved' this by deleting all current shares in Outlook2007 and resending
the share email. It seems you can only send one invite and it has to include
all the people you want to share with.

I've been able to add people to my shares in the past, but yes, if you
can't, you need to stop sharing and redo it, with all of the addresses in
one invite.

Wondering if this problem happens if you are trying to share your calendar
with someone that you had already sent an invite to earlier. I encountered
the same problem - I was trying to share my calendar with someone who I had
already attempted to share it with some time ago, but had forgotten that I
had sent out an invite to share my calendar. So when I was trying to send out
this invite it kept giving me this error.

After some digging around I found that if I right clicked on the calendar I
wanted to share, and went to "publish to the internet>change sharing
permissions" it gave me a list of people who were "sharing" my calendar. I
clicked on the name that I wanted to resend the invite to and removed that
name from the list. After that when I tried to resend the invite it worked
without a problem.

Hope this helps!
