Share Tasks without Exchange Server

Hi
I have seen several application that allow you to share one task list
amongst several computers without using Microsoft Exchange Server. For
example OsaSync. It uses a folder on a server (NOT Exchange) to syncronize a
task list.
But I can not find any code examples on how to do this.
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO DO THIS?
