We have a share workbook that 5 users are opening constantly. This workbook
is in the Network under a file name “#1†and also there is another file that
is named “Inventoryâ€. The inventory file has macros to pull the data from
the “#1â€. Two of the users are getting the "Value Errors" and 3 of the users
not. All of them are running under Excel 2003. The 3 that are not getting
value errors have the Default file location and Alternate startup file
location pointing to the folder in the network, where these two files are.
But the 2 with the Default file location pointing to the “C:\†drive are
getting the value errors. These 2 every time that open the files enabled the
macros of file “#1†and “Inventory†but they always choose to “don’t updateâ€
the “Inventory†file because they use it for information only; but they get
the value errors. If I change the path of the Default file location and
Alternate startup file location in those 2, they don’t get the “value
errorsâ€. Question: Is there a way that we don’t have to change the settings
in Excel for the Default and Alternate startup file locations and for them
not get the value errors?
