shared boarder snafu...

I have a couple pages I copied from another version of my website into front
page.

I have a bottom shared boarder on all pages. Some of the copied pages -
after I apply shared boarders - show the boarders in design and preview
modes in front page.

When I display the pages in a web browser, however, the boarders are not
there, nor are they there when I publish the website. Why do design and
preview modes show them there, but when I look in a browser they are gone?
And yes... I saved the pages ....

Can someone tell me how to fix this?
