Shared Boarders showing multiple times

J

JCO

I hate shared boarders. I will soon replace them with the include component
once I read up and learn it. However, I need to fix the imediate problem.

This has happened twice so something I'm doing is corrupting the shared
boarders. I will had some java scripts then all of the sudden the shared
boarder will show up 2, 3 or even 4-times. I can't figure out why this
keeps happening. Ive tried several things that have failed. Anybody know
what is going on.

If someone could tell me what to look for in the "Code View" I may be able
to fix the problem that way. I'm sure that is one way to do it.

Thanks in advance

FP 2003.
Latest extension (I beleive 2002).

I tried to remove the boarders on the curent page and then restore them.
After that failed, I tried the entire web, then restored that. Of course
that deletes everything (but I had it saved off).

Then, somehow, in design mode..everything looks good. In preview it is
triplicated.
I have not published the web with this bad page.

Since our last email, I recovered from a backup and started again. As soon
as I copied the JavaScripts, it messed up again. Obvisouly something to do
with the java scripts although the scripts work correctly when used on a
page that has no shared boarders on them (from the start).

Have you installed all the updates and patches for the extensions?

Don't think I did any patches or updates. Was not absolutly sure Extensions
are needd on my local computer in the first place. My main computer does
not have extensions loaded at all and I can still update files on my
webserver. I installed it on my development comptuer back when I thought it
was a requirement. Is it?

File name of extensions is "fpse02_x86_eng.exe". I guess it is the 2002
version (from the filename).

I just wanted to say that I am currently using shared borders and have ran into several limitations/issues with using them. I have recently been researching DWT's (Dynamic Web Templates) and would highly recommend looking into using them to control your site. You can download a couple of free professionally done DWT's by going here: http://www.microsoft.com/frontpage/downloads/addin/launchupdate/searchdetail.asp?a=423 Try them out for yourself - I think you will find DWT's to be a very powerful way of taking complete control of your Web site

According to http://www.dfwtejanos.com/_vti_inf.html
Your host (non-windows) is running: FPVersion="5.0.2.2634"
That is not the latest version and will give you duplicated shared borders
Have your host upgrade
For Unix server problems on the FP2002 SE see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q299360
The latest FP SE for Unix that fix the problems
(FPSE 2000 1.4 patch and an FPSE 2002 SR 1.1 patch)
are at http://www.rtr.com/fpsupport
