When I published my web site the left border did not apear. the top and
bottom worked great.

What would cause that?

Shared borders and Include Pages are design time tools w/ the content (inside the <BODY> tags) of the Shared Border or Include page
"embedded" or included as html in your pages when you save any of the file(s) using them (or save the borders / include pages
themselves)

FP converts your page(s) to a series of tables to include the Shared borders, (which are really just a special case of Include
pages)
But FP can not build those tables if either your shared border page content or main page content has illegal html or broken tag
pairs
- usually due to missing </body></html> tags, or unmatched table / cell tags (unclosed table / cell tags), or some other unclosed
html block element

If you can see them using File Preview in Browser they will publish in as part of your pages

If you can't see them using File Preview in Browser, it's because FP can not build the included content tables, so you need to
validate and correct your broken html

You don't have a left border applied: <meta name="Microsoft Border"
content="tb"> just top & bottom.

Don't use your spacebar as a layout tool.

Don't use layers unless you understand them.

Don't use VML - wordart, draw, etc...it's primarily designed for IE browsers
and doesn't work all that well in other browsers.

Did you use Word to create the html?

I have the same problem at www.freedomcharters.net....no left side borders. I
can see the borders just fine in both Design and Preview modes, but they do
not display when published. If I "Open Remote Site in Frontpage" all shared
borders then show the message "Add thi page to Navigation View to add
hyperlinks" (or something to that effect). When I click on Navigation View,
all the pages are there, in the proper order, and are "Included in Link Bars"
where appropriate. Here's what I've done so far:
1) Found online where structur.cnf can get contaminated and to replace it
directly. Did that, no change.
2) Added a new page to the navigation, saved, then deleted it again, saved,
and republished: No change.
3) Trying to follow Stefan's advice and fix the Broken HTML links, I went to
Reports | Site Summary | Broken Links and found 17 links broken in the
_themes areas. When I go to "Edit Page" the entire thing is in HTML which I
am not even close to savvy in so I have no idea how to fix this....or if this
is what's causing the problem. Below lists the broken links in question. Will
any of these cause the problem and if so, how do I fix it?
_themes/fctheme/blank.gif in page _themes/fctheme/theme.css
_themes/fctheme/blank.gif in page _themes/fctheme/fcth1011.css
_themes/fctheme/dot.gif in page _themes/fctheme/theme.css
_themes/fctheme/dot.gif in page _themes/fctheme/fcth1011.css
four of the following:
_themes/fctheme/none in page _themes/fctheme/theme.css
followed by four of the following:
_themes/fctheme/none in page _themes/fctheme/fcth1011.css
then two of these:
_themes/fctheme/toolgrad.gif in page _themes/fctheme/theme.css
then two of these:
_themes/fctheme/toolgrad.gif in page _themes/fctheme/fcth1011.css
the last remaining broken link is a confirmation page that requires the
extensions and will not clear.
Any help at all is greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks!!!

Jay
