Shared calendars are very slow to open

In outlook 2003 a user has 4 other users' calendars which she monitors
(beside her own calendar). However when she attempts to open one of these
shared calendars (does not matter which one) a considerable amount of time
passes before the calendar actually opens. All other functions within Outlook
operate correctly.
We are open to suggestions to rectify this problem.
