Shared calendars

We have Outlook Exchange Server and lots of networked
PC's. We have set up shared calendars in public folders,
and these are shared subject to permissions as required.
However, for various reasons people have problems as they
want their calendar in shared calendars to become their
default calendar (e.g. for synchronisation and for
purposes of using Outlook Today.) Is it possible to
either make this folder the default, or create a link
between the two that constantly synchronises?
