Hi all,
I have a user who is an assistant to an executive user. The Executive user
wants her admin to only have access to her Contacts folder and her sub
folders under her contacts. I know that if the assistant goes to File, Open
Other User's Folder, she will only be able to view the main contacts folder.
So this is what I did:
Step 1: I went into each of the Executive's sub contact folders (within her
Outlook account) and assigned the assistant Editor Rights.
Step 2: I went onto the Exchange server, went to properties of the Executive
and then went to the Executive's Mailbox Rights. I then added the assistant's
name and assigned her full access.
Step 3: I went to the assistant's mailbox and went to tools, options, mail
setup and email accounts (view or change, selected the Exchange server,
Change, More settings, Advanced, and added the executiv'e mailbox), to be
able to view the Executive's folder list in line with the assistant's folder
list.
When trying to expand the Executive's folder list, I received an error that
I could not expand the folder list.
In addition to my question of what step did I missin order to get this to
work, I would also like to know if:
1: The assistant would also be able to see the Executive's InBox, calendar,
etc. if the assistant wasn't made delegate to anything but the contacts
folders as I did in Step 1. I would like to limit access to just the main
contacts and the sub folders in contacts.
2. Is "Sharing Contacts" in Outlook 2003 easier that this? If so, how does
it work? It may be easier for us to upgrade the assistant to Outlook 2003.
I apologize for this novel! If would appreciate any helpful direction on this!
Thanks in advance.
