Shared contacts between Outlook and OE

Why do my Outlook and our OE share the same contacts? I
have my own contacts in Outlook but let my kids use OE.
Whenever I do anything with my contacts, the same thing
takes place in OE. I deleted all of "my" contacts from
the kids' OE address book but discovered that they were
deleted from my Outlook contacts folder too!

I would assume it is because you enabled sharing between Outlook and OE.
Impossible to say for sure since you failed to post your Outlook
version/mail support mode.
Open the Address Book in OE, look at Tools > Options.
Tell us what you see.
