Shared Environment Problem

I have created a stand-alone database on a shared network. Only one or two
people are responsible for data entry and editing, but a dozen or so ‘team
leaders’ must view and print the reports often.

The database is set up for no locks. Nevertheless, if someone has the
database open, no-one else can open it from another computer. It is not set
for ‘read-only’; it has no locks, and is set up for a shared environment. So
what is going on here?

When something like this happened to one of the applications I created, it
turned out that the network folks had changed permissions on the folder
holding the application and this effectively limited the number of users to
1, whoever got there first.

I'd suggest having the network folks check the folders/path...

This sounds reasonable and very likely...can't think of any other reason for
this to happen. I'll check it out. Thanks very much.

I checked with the network folks this morning, and they said they have not
changed anything - that the folders are set for the maximum number of users.

Your response made sense to me because I can open the database by going to
Programs/Access/then the database, rather than opening the database directly
from the folder. But according to them, access to the folder is not the
problem.
