There is an Excel workbook on a Novell server. There are no protection settings in it at all, it is simply created as a normal Excel workbook. I have a full r/w access to that directory and I save this workbook to that directory on the server. It is okay so far.
But when I open this saved workbook and modify anything, and want to save the modified file, I get an alarm window that because of file sharing it is impossible to save the file, instead, Excel offers a new name for the workbook, or simply saves the modified file as ******.TMP
And the original does not have the changes of course. It is not an effective way of work, so does anyone have an idea why does Excel do it? As I mentioned, it is a simple file, with no teamwork setting, and it is not edited by more people at one time. Thanks for any idea.
