IExchange 2007 (not patched to SP1) outlook 2007 (fully patched),
Active Directory / Domain environment
I have seen posts similar to this but with no apparent solution.
Perhaps my observations can help someone point me in the right
direction. Sometimes when I share user A's inbox with user B, user B
can see all of the subfolders under user A's inbox and sometimes not.
The only difference I can see is user B's apparent rights on the local
machine - not user B's domain rights, but the user B's rights on the
local machine! If user B has admin rights to the local machine, user
B will be able to see all subfolders under user A's account. If user
B then moves to a different computer where he/she is only a
"restricted user" or even a "power user," then user B only gets access
to user A's inbox and a selected group of its subfolders. It would
seem to me that when user A grants user B rights to his/her inbox,
then user B would have access to the same info in user A's inbox
regardless of the machine that user B was logging in from but this
appears to not be the case. Modifying user B's local rights on the
various machines he/she may log in from is not an option. Is there a
specific file or folder on the local machine that I could allow user B
access to that would eliminate this problem, or am I barking up the
wrong tree? IT seems odd that I would have to do this but Im not sure
where else I should be looking.
