Shared Notebooks - Only Copy on File Share

T

Tricio

If I have a shared notebook on a file share:

1. I assume I should PW protect the file share as a precaution against
access by those not authorized to share the files. I know I can PW protect
the notebook, but that does not seem as secure as requiring people to use
their logon credentials.

2. Is there a way to limit the amount of information stored in the notebook
on the PCs of those sharing it? From my reading, it seems that each person
retains a full copy of the contents of a shared notebook. Depending on the
contents, this oculd be a substantial amount of data. There also is the
security aspect if there are multiple copies on individual PCs.

Merci

Regarding:

1: Yes, PW protecting the file share is much more secure than the
OneNote password function.

2. Not that I'm aware of. The local cache file location should only be
accessible to the user and admin of that machine, anyhow. Other users
shouldn't be able to access it - but there are some things (encryption?
Permissions?) that you can use to lock it down somewhat.
