Shared Public Calendars disappearing from Other Calendars list

I have access to several shared calendars in public folders. Each folder has
been added to favorite folders so it will show up in the Other Calendars list
when accessing the calendar page on the navigation pane. These will be in the
list for several days, then for some unknown reason disappear from the Other
Calendars list. The only way I can get them to show up in the list again is
to get into the folder list, verify that they are still included in the
favorite folders list, and wait for them to show up in bold after a brief
period of time. Then when I swtich back to the calendar page, they are listed
again. Any idea why this happens and how to avoid it? I've removed them from
other calendars and added them back several times but it never seems to stick
for more than a few days.
