Shared Task with Multiple Resources

I need to share a task with multiple resources at different times.
For example I have a task that runs 5 days which Fred will work on but for
the last 2 days Tom will take over OR join Fred and help speed things up.
How do I do this?

Hello koolkat,

Assign both Fred and Tom and then view the task in the Task Usage
view. Edit the work as needed in the timescaled (right side)
portion of the view. You can also add assignment delay on a task
with multiple resources assigned using the Task Form formatted to
show Resource Schedule.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Julie,

Thank you for the new tip. I never used Task usage before. It is so
cool...!!!!

Could you please help answer my question on "Shared Task by Multiple
Resources" posted on 9/16.....please!

Thanks,

Hi Dip,

You're welcome for the tip on the Task Usage view.

To your question about Shared Tasks by Multiple resources" I'm with
Jan on his answer to you. I'd split the task up so the hand-offs
are clean -- particularly when you note the planning engineer would
hand off to the other resources.

The only other option is to assign all of your resources to the task
and using the Task Usage view, manually edit the work for each
resource. Again, I think you have to balance this level of detail
with the reality of will your resources report in that level of
detail how many hours of work they did on Monday versus Wednesday.

Hi Julie:

Thanks again!

So, if the sub task is completed, it is best left alone.

If the subtask has many resources, I would resource it with different %
units, and work hours. Then I could "manually" edit the work for each
resource.

Wow- I think you are a born teacher!!
Cheers and have a nice weekend.
