Shared Workbook Growing Out of Control

Hope someone can help me on this one as it's driving me insane.

We have a shared workbook with a few sheets and tracking enabled.
File is 2003 format and around 5-6 people access this all the time.
If all the clients are 2003 we have no problems with this setup.
However if someone accesses it in 2007 then the file starts to grow very
quickly.
Only way i can rectify the problem that i can see is the paste the contents
into a new spreadsheet.

To give you an idea of the problem. The usual file size is maybe 1mb max,
when we start having problems this can quickly grow to over 100 even 200mb,
not great for access over VPN!

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
