Sharepoint and Project Server 2002 permission

I am seeing in Sharepoint tables that it is taking forever to assign project
server users to the sharepoint Subwebs (for different roles). This is the
reason why it is taking long to save the project on project server. I have
been monitoring the subweb creaon closely. It is the setting of the
permissions to project resources and admins (or synchronizing user for a
subweb) is taking really long.

This even seemed to be affecting the upload of documents. The upload
although successful takes forever.

Is theer some setting that I need to configure.

Has anyone of you seen a similar problem. We are using Project Server 2002
SP1.

Any help would be appreciated.
