Sharepoint and ProjectServer 2003

I am not running Sharepoint Portal but WSS and ProjectServer 2003. I
currently have the test server working correctly and want to rename from
sharepoint2 to sharepoint. How would I do that. I found the KB article
830970 but that talks about renaming a Portal Server by using the
backup/restore option. I do not have that running.

Keep the box named "Sharepoint2". Have your DNS administrators set up
the hostname "Sharepoint" so that it references "Sharepoint2".

If that solution is not satisfactory (or not clean enough,
understandably,) then search Google Groups for "rename WSS server
instructions". There's a post from 23 Feb 2005 that describes the
process you need to follow to truly rename the server.
