Sharepoint Central Administration URL Won't Work Now

Any direction on this matter would be helpful. I'm the administrator for my
companies Project Server but I have a technical counterpart who deals with
the server side of things. When he set up our test environment (which resides
on a single server) he let the installation choose the Port for our
Sharepoint Central Administration URL. Everything was working wonderfully
then. Well, he looked back through the documentation we have and thought that
he needed to change the port to be the same as what is on the Production
Project Server. Now, Issues and Risks won't work and we can't seem to figure
out how to change the port back to its original. Any ideas? (I've given him
the Disaster Recovery Guide and the Installation Guide - He has tried
reinstalling WSS but with no luck).

Don't blame him for this. As far as I can remember you are not given the
option to change the port. It assigns it and then you write it down on a
piece of paper which you lose thus relying on having the link to it under
Administration on the server (personal experience).

If this is true (that it *only* assigns it) you can see why it's probably
not a brilliant idea to change it. Can't you change it back to what it was ?
You've changed it once so surely its those same steps again.
