SharePoint Designer creating database connection error

I'm trying to connect to a sql 2000 database but get the error: "The server
could not complete your request. Contact your Internet service provider or
Web server administrator to make sure that the server has the FrontPage
Server Extensions or SharePoint Services installed." I get part way through
the connection process but when I try and view the data to create a dataview
web part I get this error.

Any thoughts?

I'm gonna suggest that you post to a Sharepoint Designer or SQL newsgroup
where you would probably find more targeted assistance.

I searched for those newsgroups but couldn't find them. Where are they
located?

I would probably try microsoft.public.sharepoint.design_and_customization,
or microsoft.public.sharepoint.development_and_programming. You'll find more
Sharepoint gurus there than in the office.misc group.
