Sharepoint doesn't respond to..

Hi All,

We are experiencing a problem with requests to Sharepoint by an external
user. Whenever an external user attempts to access Documents. Sharepoint
issues the reply as if the user is internal. What can be causing this
condition?

SharePoint expects Windows credentials for access If by "external" you mean
extranet or internet access, you must explain to us how you're accommodating
authentication for us to help you. Normally, this is accomplished by placing
a second front end on the system and pointing it to the same database. This
technique uses basic auth over SSL. Other possible solutions include VPN and
remote desktop applications. When posting, be specific in describing what
you're seeing on the screen. Post error messages and prompts verbatim.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for your reply.

I did mean internet customer/users were experiencing problems accessing
document. It has recently been solved. We are in the midst of migrating to
PS2003. Apparantly, we didn't apply a service patch to STS. I'm told we've
applied the patch and re-loaded STS to WSS.
