Sharepoint linking vs. copying

We have two differenct concepts regarding sharind documents with the a site
and its sub-site. If we want to share documents from the parent to the sub,
is better to put a link on the sub to to point to the doc on the parent, or
copy the file to the sub?

That may depend upon how much file space you have as well as the speed in
which you want to open the file.

Many people like just having to click the link. Always getting access to
the latest file. Others like having that static or updated document in the
folder and use the full features of WSS to review and work them.

Let me know if this gives you a pointer in the right direction.

(Aside: this doesn't seem to have much to do with Project Server - the WSS
newsgroup is at microsoft.public.sharepoint.windowsservices)

As you seem likely to want to do this for more than one document, I would
instead consider putting these all in a document library in either the site
or the sub-site (let's say you put it in a Sub-Site) and then using a Front
Page Data View web part in the Site to show the contents of that document
library. Changes to the document would be made in the Sub-Site (in this
example).

Site or Sub-site doesn't matter, it works in either way. In any way you need
(just as you need for your own linking solution ) for a user to have access
rights to both site and sub-site (and that document library of course).
